Brown Communications provides network
integration support to USC/Canterbury Corp.
Northrop Grumman has contracted with Brown
to provide support for the Montgomery County Public Safety
Data System (PSDS).

Brown Communications
is an Authorized Motorola Basic Servicer. Currently Brown
is currently providing technical support for Motorola, Inc.
Brown provides advanced data and wireless network
technical services in a Public Safety environment. These services
support the Baltimore City Police, Fire Department, and Department
of Public Works (DPW) Computer-Assisted Dispatch system (CAD)
in the 911 Communications Center at the Baltimore City Police
Headquarters Building. Under the current contract Brown Communications
performs the following tasks:
- Onsite maintenance support for the HP & Cisco network
hardware and software (Switches & Routers).
- Performance monitoring of the Local and Wide Area Networks
at the Primary and Backup 911 Control Centers.
- Provide technical support and expertise for CAD system
verification and troubleshooting.
- Onsite maintenance for the Wireless (RF) Fire Station
Signaling Subsystem (VRM & MOSCAD)
- Site Engineering, cable plant maintenance, and rewiring
- Performance monitoring of the Wireless (RF) Fire Station
Signaling Subsystem.

Brown Communications provides
network integration support to USC/Canterbury Corp. Our
work was in support of the Baltimore City Police Department,
Governor’s Office for Children, Youth, and Families
(OCYF), and the States Attorney’s Office at 111 N. Calvert
Street Baltimore, MD. Under the contract Brown Communications
performed the following tasks:
- Onsite installation support for the Cisco PIX Firewall's.
- Provide support for the newly architected and implemented
system to be migrated into the production network
- Provide technical support and expertise for system verification
and troubleshooting.

Northrop Grumman has contracted
with Brown to provide support for the Montgomery County Public
Safety Data System (PSDS) which enhances Police,
Sheriff, and Fire Department’s data communications,
call taking, and dispatch capabilities, by providing state-of-the-art
radio technology and Computer-Assisted Dispatching (CAD) of
Emergency Services. At the completion of system implementation,
the County’s new Emergency Communications Center (ECC)
and Alternate Emergency Communications Center (AECC) will
have greatly improved capabilities to receive emergency (911)
calls, dispatch emergency services, and manage Fire and Police
calls.
Our Northrop Grumman support contract is a task order; level
of effort contract providing advanced technical services that
involved Computer-Assisted Dispatch system support and Cisco
network hardware & IOS support in a secure 911 Communications
Center. This contract highlights Brown ability to rapidly
staff a critical program and to adequately fulfill task orders
that require unique technical skills.
The implementation phase of this project is separated into
two distinct phases. Phase I (A & B) and Phase II. Phase
IA provided limited systems/functionality in an Integrated
Test Facility (ITF) and Phase IB provided full systems/functionality
in the ECC. Phase II will provide full systems/functionality
in the Alternate Emergency Communications Center (AECC). Phase
I (A & B) activities were successfully completed in August
of 2003. Phase I (A & B) tasks included the following
activities:
- Procured equipment for installation at ITF (Cisco switches
& routers, racks, patch panels cables, and Network Management
Software
- Installation and administration of the ITF Local Area
Network and Wide Area Network
- Assisted in the development of System Integration Test
plans.
- Developed/reviewed draft test procedures
- Conducted Acceptance Testing
- Provided System Administration Training of County technical
staff.
- Provided support during the 30-day performance and system
acceptance period.
- Provided expertise in the area of system monitoring,
operational and compliance verification.
- Phase II support activities were successfully completed
in September 2004. Phase II activities included the same level
of support as Phase IA and Phase IB as required by Northrop
Grumman support staff.
